Pulp Fiction: Works on Paper is a group exhibition featuring works on paper by various visual artists. It may seem, upon first encountering the subtitle, Works on Paper, that Pulp Fiction presents artworks placed merely on paper, with paper serving as a two-dimensional canvas. It is quite the contrary however, for the use of ‘on’ in the subtitle aims to denote that the works are about paper, with paper as the main topic of the exhibition.
This show brings together a diverse selection of works, from illustration type to the more sculptural and conceptual. The works carry within themselves independent stories, “works of fiction” as it were, translated on paper and paper-made objects.
Pulp Fiction: Works on Paper as a whole is an expression of the joys of working with a material that is so basic, incredibly fragile and yet durable enough to carry stories and images that would’ve otherwise remained abstractions.
